    TGIF.

I wrote a check last week and on Wednesday, the woman who was processing it asked if I’d really meant to date it March 8, instead of February 8 (she was very kind and offered to wait to deposit it). I checked the calendar. No, it was just my mistake – but whoa, now I feel like I’ve gained four weeks back! Happy Friday y’all! Totally loving this whole going gray with short hair thing. I had my fourth “no color” hair appointment this week. Short hair is super easy and quick! oh my goodness y’all – I had no idea how much time and energy I was putting into my…

    TGIF | Blue Sky Blooms!

Wow, what a difference a week makes! I promised y’all blooms this month … and couldn’t be more delighted to deliver on that promise so quickly. Here’s a close-up. and one for Kym (this isn’t my yard … but I am delighted every time I see one, too!) Happy Friday! Thinking about spring knitting. I know. I’ve been thinking about it all week. First up is a sample knit that I can’t share here. But next, I think it’s going to be this. in a light pink cotton/silk blend. Getting back into podcasts. I’m enjoying On Being, The Daily and The Argument. and look forward to trying out The Enneagram Journey…

    TGIF | Hello February.

Thank you for all your comments on yesterday’s post … I replied to many of you about how much I love winter’s bare branches and the shadows they cast. Winter has a stark beauty that took me years to appreciate. Somewhat switching gears … I took the photo above this afternoon. These two cherry trees are directly opposite the entrance to my neighborhood. They bloom in February. Yes BLOOM. and y’all – there are buds on those branches! I had Holly with me (and it was the end of the walk and she was ready for her cookies) so I couldn’t really get up close to show you. But I’m…

    TGIF | Three Years.

This past Wednesday marked three years since my dad’s passing. Thinking about just how much has changed. a new grandson. lots of new addresses on my holiday card list (especially Katie, Sara, my mom and Steve & Lydia). Marc transitioned from a crazy job with international travel 3-4 times a year to being home. I quit my job at the yarn shop and stopped teaching. …and how much is still the same. love. friends. family. Holly. popcorn. Grateful for having my mom live so close. Also that she is now a fan of hand knit socks and looks forward to a yarn shop outing as an opportunity to choose a…

    TGIF | Coatigan.

I had grand plans for Coatigan to be finished this week. But at nearly 4pm on Friday, I’m having to accept that will only happen if I stretch “this week” to include the weekend. So in lieu of the typical TGIF post, today I have a slightly tongue-in-cheek one, dedicated to this WIP. Thinking about my next project (of course, right?). I even went so far as to pull out needles and make a tiny swatch this morning. It looks like I’ll be knitting DK weight yarn on a size 7 needle. Which after weeks of knitting aran yarn on a size 5  sounds heavenly. Grateful for the girls in…

    TGIF.

My Friday morning book group is still on holiday hiatus, so I had a few extra hours this morning. I put it to good use and cleared out my inbox and then – finally! – my Feedly reader. I didn’t leave a lot of comments (so as not to clutter up too many other inboxes), but I must say, this little corner of the internet where I spend my time is already enjoying a most fulfilling 2019! Here’s to its first Friday! Thinking about Hope and how often I throw the word around when I really mean “wish” (or “want” or “would like”). I want to give it more meaning.…

TGIF | The Last One of 2018.

I don’t think it’s just me … this week – and these last few days of 2018 – is flying by. Hopefully the weekend will put me in a better frame of mind to welcome a new year, but now it’s Friday … and time for the last TGIF post of this year. Thinking about my #makenine plans for 2019, with a focus on finishing works-in-progress, learning new skills, and using yarn and fabric I already have. Grateful for time with my girls this week. Wednesday’s lunch was delightful (and we even found a nice person to take our photo), as was Mary Poppins Returns! Inspired by our girl-talk on…

    TGIF.

Hello friends and Happy Solstice! We haven’t seen the sun in a few days, so I’ll just have to look forward to the later sunsets. Maybe tomorrow?! And of course it’s Friday … of the last weekend before Christmas … so without further ado: Thinking about my one little word for 2019.  (are you?) Grateful for a “free day” on my calendar – tomorrow! of course I’ve planned two days worth of things to fill that time, but still … it feels good! Inspired by today’s reading in Advent in Narnia. The devotion is inspired by Chapter 11 where Edmund finally realizes that the Witch won’t make him king. or…

    TGIF.

I just finished the second pair of socks (woohoo!) and while I ponder the next cast on, I thought I’d drop in here for a little Friday fun. Thinking about 2019 and what I’d like the year to be. (I’m also still thinking a lot about the end of 2018 – there is still much to do … and experience! … before the calendar turns!) Grateful for the library. This afternoon, I finished my 100th book (Call the Midwife) of 2018. 65 of those books have been borrowed from the library. I’ve also purchased a few and read from my bookshelves. I hope to continue all of these practices next…

  • Just Life,  Sewing

    TGIF.

Hello, friends! All that unraveling sure made the week fly by 🙂 Before I dive into TGIF, I have a few modeled photos of Hadley. I’m really pleased with how it turned out. and finally using the beautiful Nani Iro linen I bought at Purl Soho back in June. FO selfies are hard … but here’s a little view of the back – and more of the slightly raised neckline (I cut a size 4 top, except for the V-neck where I traced the opening for the size 18.) Thinking about holiday plans. (yes, finally.) We are delighted that Sara is going to be here for a few days after…
