    TGIF | Still April.

Yep, it’s still April. Mother Nature is doing her thing and Spring is for sure coming … sooner for some of us than others. We did have freezing temperatures the last two mornings (thankfully I hadn’t yet washed my jacket or my mittens!) and then the sunshine warmed things up nicely. I’m even wearing flip flops for Holly’s afternoon walks. And since it’s Friday, I’m sharing a quick look into my world through the lens of: Thinking about … “Real Life”. My Friday morning small group is studying Brené Brown’s The Gifts of Imperfection. Today we talked about Guidepost #5 – Cultivating Intuition and Trusting Faith: Letting Go of the…

    TGIF | T-2 hours.

… until Marc and I get our second shots. I haven’t knitted a stitch today (so far), nor have I even thought about getting a hand knit near a dryer. Instead, I’ve been reading and planning more reading, and browsing Instagram for half-square-triangle quilt ideas. Depending on how long it takes me to post this, I also might try for a nap. …so yeah, today does feel a little weird 😉 and hopefully a solid TGIF post will right things! Thinking about … a potential new volunteer opportunity. With my four-year term leading our church’s Women’s Ministry coming to an end, I have some space. A friend texted me just…

    TGIF | All Good Stuff.

Sara and I went to Trader Joe’s last Friday and brought home a bunch of orange tulips. I put them in a blue & white pitcher on the corner of my desk and totally enjoyed watching them open up as the week progressed. I was even inspired to make a Waterlogue. This view is from Wednesday. The blossoms were all spent by this morning and my view is now … a lot less colorful … which inspired me to celebrate the Good Stuff this Friday! Thinking about … another summer of Book Bingo. Patty says Yes. and I say Why Not?! We’re going back to the Memorial Day to Labor…

    TGIF | Hello April.

Looking back at last month’s Hello post, I’m almost gob-smacked by the difference that JUST four weeks can make. almost. because I still remember the difference that four weeks made last spring. and that four weeks (four hours … four minutes … four seconds) can cause a seismic shift in any of our lives. I snapped those photos yesterday morning. Dark early. Sara’s flight had just left Heathrow (on time!). and seeing that sunstar shining through the faces of two my favorite people. well. gratitude comes easy. Sara’s flight was actually almost an hour early (we were home about 30 minutes after her flight was originally scheduled to land). She’s…

    TGIF | Still March.

Here’s a quick look into my world right now, though the lens of: Thinking about … time. I just read (in my ears, with kudos to Ethan Hawke’s fantastic narration) Slaughterhouse-Five. I’ve somehow managed to miss reading this classic and I’m grateful to Novel Pairings podcast for putting it in my path right now. There’s a lot going on in this short novel, and much of it is dark and depressing. but the idea that time isn’t linear – that’s a limitation of our three-dimensional minds – has always fascinated me. I encountered this in a spiritual sense a few years ago through one of Krista Tippett’s On Being podcasts…

    TGIF | Mid-March.

Hello friends, and TGIF. It’s been a sad, weird, stormy, somewhat productive, and at times, even joyful week in our house. Like all of you, I was devastated to learn about the mass shootings that took place in Atlanta Tuesday night. At times, Georgia can be the best of us … and at other times, the worst. In the north/northeastern suburbs where I live, the AAPI community is huge. I left my neighborhood for the first time this morning (Holly had a grooming appointment) and was sad/glad to see flags at City Hall and at the lake flying at half staff. I listened to Pantsuit Politics latest episode (it dropped…

    TGIF | Hello March.

I was so happy to see these daffodils on my walk this morning, turning their faces to warm in the sun … it felt nice to turn my face toward it, too. and that feels like the perfect metaphor to say Hello to March! Trying hard … to stay focused. which mostly means having the courage to simply say “no” to most of the new things that come across my path. practically Giddy … that I dropped off our tax information with the accountant this afternoon. also Glad the pile of papers came together in much less time than I thought it would. and now I need to be careful that…

    TGIF | Still February.

Yep, still February. for a short month, it sure seems L-O-N-G doesn’t it?! Thinking about … Texas. and taking action with prayers and money. I listened to Pantsuit Politics podcast this morning and the first segment is excellent for trying to understand how we got here … and what we might do to take a different path. We do need government; it might not always be the best way to solve a problem, and sometimes it’s the only way. Grateful for … Holly seems to be feeling better. again. We were back at the vet on Saturday morning after two nights with no sleep and non-stop tummy troubles. It might…

TGIF | Chilly, Gray, Wet, February.

Hello my friends and happy Friday! It is a chilly, gray, wet day here in Georgia. and I am trying hard not to let the weather color my mood. A little TGIF is just what I need! Thinking about … yet another devotion our pastor, Beverly, shared this week. She talked about a conference she attended – virtually – the week before: Much I heard at this conference pushed back against that feeling that things are not as they should be. To be clear, NO ONE said that this virus and pandemic are good or are God’s will or “should be” happening. What I heard over and over again is…

    TGIF | Early February.

Most months I love to use this first Friday to welcome in the month … and right now, I find myself thinking more one day at a time. Here’s what TGIF looks like right now, on February 5. Thinking about … spring/summer makes. Georgia, y’all! It’s 47 degrees, sunny, and very windy today. I saw a daffodil maybe getting close to popping open on our morning walk. and all the shades of gray in my closet, well. I ordered some pink yarn from Knitpicks to knit a spring-y JiJi. and I’m working up the courage to call Lakes Makerie to chat about fabric to make a tunic or two, and maybe…
