…build confidence. The photo below is from yesterday morning, after I finally got up the courage (and the brain power*) to take my new serger out of the box and flip through the manual.“Overwhelmed” would’ve been an understatement (not only because I’ve used a serger exactly once – the night of my Lark Tee sewing class – and even then all I did was serge four edges of a t-shirt).  I decided to wait another day (there was a silver lining – my craft room is now completely neat and tidy … and I knitted 😉 ). Thanks to that *below, I didn’t go to knitting this afternoon. Instead, I…

mark an anniversary. Yep, that was us, 35 years ago … newly married and off to enjoy a lovely dinner party with a hundred or so family and friends. This was us a few weeks back (the most recent two of us photo I have!) So glad we no longer look scared to death 🙂 but we still have smiles on our faces. Tonight’s celebration is just the two of us (plus Holly), with a roasted pork loin and a few more episodes of The Great British Baking Show. I’m looking forward to that real meal … and many more years together!

…are best spent indoors. The rain started overnight and continues … but now our house is clean, three loads of laundry are done (the two that Marc did are also folded and put away) and I’m well into the first sleeve on Jaycee. I’m sure Holly wishes she could’ve stayed indoors all day, too. but sadly … this was us three times today. She’s now dry and resting comfortably in my lap. I know we’re both planning to stay inside until tomorrow! Hope your week is off to a good start!

  • Travel

    Sometimes Mondays.

…mark the beginning of a new adventure! We leave this evening for Vienna (by way of Amsterdam), arriving early tomorrow afternoon. Our cruise begins Thursday afternoon, so we have two days to explore Vienna on our own. The only definite (besides pastries) plan is Wednesday afternoon when we’re going to tour Schönbrunn Palace. Looking forward to this adventure … and sharing it with y’all! Have a great week!

…send you around in circles! And this time, they’re most welcome – yep, I finally made it to the sleeves of Soyokaze 🙂 Hope your Monday brought something welcome, too. Here’s to a good week!

  • Knitting

    Sometimes Mondays.

…look a little messy. Thankfully, many things today have gone quite well (I finished the test knit for Lori and it looks great. I had my first PT appointment and got cleared for yoga. Kirsten reposted our Monday knitting group photo of the finished mystery shawls). But the beginning of Soyokaze was not one of them. That mess of yarn means I mis-read the instructions – not once, but twice. Instead of working ribbing on the right side and purling the wrong side, I worked ribbing on both sides. yep. oops! I guess I should be glad I realized my mistake before that pile of yarn of ripped out yarn…

…need no more explanation. I do need physical therapy to strengthen my ankle and until then walking only on flat, even surfaces (thank goodness we have a treadmill), no yoga, no pilates, no running 🙂 (I told the doctor I’m not sure that’s even part of my plan right now). But still, two shoes, white jeans (yep, they still fit) and I drove myself to knitting this afternoon.Even the late afternoon traffic couldn’t dim my smile! Thank y’all for your support and encouragement these past six weeks – you made a difference and I’m so grateful. Here’s to a great week!!

    Sometimes Mondays.

…are stay-at-home days because Sunday afternoons are just way too much fun! YAY! but whoa. Marmie & Poppa (& Holly) are out of practice for the pace of an almost-four and almost-two year old. I’d hoped to get to knitting this afternoon, but my foot started bothering me last night and I opted to lay low and rest instead. That’s the front of the test knit I’m doing for Lori Versaci. Cruising along in straight stockinette (for 15″) while listening to Silent Voices (Vera Stanhope #4). Not a bad way to rest up! and probably more to Holly’s liking, I’m sure 😉 Hope your week is off to a good start…
