    On the Greenway.

I walked with Lauren on the greenway this afternoon. Neither of us could even remember the last time we walked there. It’s been closed a good bit lately thanks to all the rain, but it was open, dry … and simply glorious today. Bright blue skies and 42 degrees (to all my readers facing much colder/wetter please know we did appreciate all of that – and we thought of you!) The photo above was inspired by the lovely Instagram stories of ocean_bythesea and how she captures such beautiful movement in the shadows. Especially the shadows of bare and nearly bare branches. Like I saw on today’s walk. Lauren and I…

    More Blooms.

…from Florida. I walked by this house a few times before I noticed what was blooming in the front bed. Yes indeed – amaryllis! in May! Of course I knew y’all would want to see, too. One evening, the gentleman who owned the house was outside watering so I could ask if it would be ok to get up close for a few photos. He smiled and said sure (and I’ll bet he was thinking “crazy”). It was hard to capture the red, but you get the idea. The two-toned ones were easier to photograph and simply stunning. Once I knew to look for them, I saw amaryllis growing in…

    Views from our Daily Walks.

Morning and late afternoon walks are part of our daily routine around here (as much as Holly might wish otherwise…especially when the temperature approaches 100 degrees). As I looked through my photos from this past trip, I was struck by how different the scenery is from what we see around here.  This is from Friday morning’s walk around the marina (at my aunt’s in North Palm Beach). I sent this photo to Marc. It’s the spot where Tiger’s boat lives (when it’s parked). The Atlantic Ocean is just on the other side of that far bit of land. Saturday afternoon we were back in Leesburg with blue skies. And trees…

    Greetings from Florida.

This is the third time I’ve been in Florida in January/February, when it’s cold (and even snowy) at home and colder (and snowier) where many of you live. Thought you might enjoy a quick picture postcard of what yesterday looked like outside: Don’t think it’s all breezy blue skies… some of what we saw on our walk was downright scary. I thought it was bad enough seeing this guy in the water…but by the time we headed back, he was on dry land. Hope you see some blue skies and sunshine (and no sunning alligators) this week!

    From Today’s Walk.

…not the park, but the greenway. Not this morning, but this afternoon – after yoga, when it was a delightful 50-something degrees. Accompanied not by Lauren (she’s away this weekend) but Karen Joy Fowler’s We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves. I started listening this morning and on my walk got so engrossed that I stayed out way longer than I planned. I must get back on track though, which means I’m going to need y’all to identify that gorgeous fluff in the first photo. With just the gentlest of shakes, the whole thing fell apart and the pieces floated away on the breeze. Did you get detoured in a delightful…
