    Currents | March 2016.

the cherry tree in our cul-de-sac is nearly ready to explode! Remembering just how much I love spring, especially when it’s a little early. Loving longer days. Yesterday we finally hit a 12 hour and one minute day. Having it light until nearly 8:00 is making up for having it dark until 7:30 in the morning. Planning meals and activities for our upcoming family celebration weekend in Beaufort, SC. We’re having all of Daddy’s favorite foods and drinks … plenty of nostalgia and good eats to go around. Eating salads – power greens, tomato, cucumber, avocado and oranges with a sprinkle of queso fresco and a little fruit balsamic. Tastes…

    Currents | October 2015.

from last Thursday’s afternoon walk #blueskyblooms #nofilter Remembering last Thursday’s gorgeous bright blue skies. We’ve had a week of gray skies and rain…but the sun will hopefully be back for the weekend. Embracing fall. and the start of the “getting cozy” season. and Dreading, less than usual, the accompanying lack of daylight. Eating carrots, almonds and sharp cheddar cheese. Reading Brown Girl Dreaming with my eyes and Career of Evil with  my ears. The former is taking a while because I’ve fallen asleep almost immediately the last few nights, while the latter is pretty much consuming me. It’s dark and twisted (way more than anything I usually read or watch), but oh so good!…

    Currents | June 2015.

from yesterday’s morning walk Loving: Cooler mornings. It was in the low 60’s yesterday. Holly and I enjoyed a long walk, our first since early May. Hoping: I can stick with my daily step and yoga routines. I’ve managed both 10,000 steps and at least 15 minutes of yoga every day this month. It’s starting to feel like a habit. Reading: Carson McCullers’ The Heart is a Lonely Hunter on CD (which means only in my car – it’s going slow) and Penelope Lively’s Consequences as a real book. Both borrowed from the library and neither for a reading challenge! Watching: Still not much. But Marc and I have seen a few episodes of…

    Currents | May 2015.

yesterday evening, on the porch, with my sister, Holly, a bottle of wine and knitting Loving: Porch time. Hoping: My tennis elbow really does get better with rest, care and therapy (my first PT appointment is Monday). The rest and care is taking a toll on my knitting, for sure! Reading: The Cuckoo’s Calling on Audible (so good…and I’m delighted there’s more Cormoran Strike already published) and A Sport and Pastime on my Kindle (also good). I’m finding it hard to balance the eyes and ears, but grateful I have time for both right now. Watching: Not much. All the reading is consuming me. But I do want to watch the last season of…

It was amazing.Laughing: out loud while listening to Cabin Pressure (thank you, Bonny, for the recommendation!)Listening: to the Serial podcast (well, not anymore I guess, until Season 2) and Spotify Radio.Splurging: on wine clubs. This fall, I’ve teamed up with Katie, my sister and another friend…

    Currents | November 2014.

It’s a wet, gray morning outside, the kind that makes me very glad I don’t need to be anywhere until lunchtime (but also a little sad because I was looking forward to re-joining my running group after a month-long absence). Seems the perfect time to pour another cup of coffee…and reflect on what’s happening right now. last November 17 – celebrating my birthday and our anniversary in the Dominican Republic Loving: Marc has been home for two weeks. The evenings, especially, have been so nice – shared dinners with conversation (and no popcorn!) Embracing: shorter days…cozy evenings on the couch with a fire. Reading: nothing right this second.
