Three on Thursday | Making Me Smile.

Hey y’all, it’s Thursday – almost the end of Week Eight in SAH Time … and I’m happy to be here with Three Things making me smile this week.

Thing One.Newleaf is done! and in the time since I took that photo and started writing this post, it’s finished soaking and is now laid out on to dry. (also, fingers crossed my swatch didn’t lie because it’s not at all the width/length I want – yikes!)

Thing Two.The morning walks have been glorious these past few days. It’s like we have two Springs here. The first one when all the trees blossom ended a few weeks back and now we’re seeing actual flowers. I do love Spring One because it is Spring and the pink blossoms are such a welcome sight against the gray/brown winter landscape. ahhh, but Spring Two doesn’t have the pollen and it’s all about smells and color! There was a HUGE rhododendron in the backyard of our old house. It bloomed the first week of May without fail. as do these (not in our yard, but close enough to enjoy every morning).

Thing Three.PORCH TIME! The photo above is from Tuesday (that’s a little margarita in my glass) and the one below is from yesterday morning. Marc’s done a lovely job with the pots (a first time thing for our screened porch) … they add the perfect something!

I hope you found at least one thing to make you smile this week … please share!

Thank you to Carole for hosting this meetup. and for giving me another reason to smile!

Such beautiful flowers! The azaleas have begun to bloom in the park, but not in our yard yet. Next week we’re supposed to warm up finally, and I think the trees and flowers will burst out. About time.

Can’t wait to see the sweater — and I can’t believe how quickly you finished it! I’m itching to start a new sweater, but I’m forcing myself to finish up my shawl first (and I started binding off last night, so it won’t be much longer). It must be lovely to sit on the screened porch. I enjoy sitting on our porch in the good weather, but I have to deal with bugs and things blowing in.

what a pretty porch you have! We used to have a screened in porch at our old house but this house only has a patio. It’s the one thing I miss! I cannot believe you are done with that sweater already!!

  • Patty

I had a delicious margarita on Tuesday – so refreshing! I’m looking forward to seeing that Newleaf and big news…my poncho will be blocked and seamed this weekend! 🙂

  • Vicki

We had margaritas on the pergola on Tuesday. It had been ages since I made one of those, and I forgot how easy (and delicous)!

  • Kym

Lots of smile-making there, Mary! It’s tricky some days, but there are always little reasons to smile. Thanks for sharing yours. 🙂

  • Carole

Those foxglove are stunning! And hooray for plants on the porch, I feel like that makes a huge difference in creating an outdoor space that feels cozy and comfortable.

  • Vera

Love your reasons to smile and I cannot believe how fast you (re)knitted your sweater!!! Speedy. Can’t wait to see pictures of it on you! Happy weekend and Happy Mother’s Day!

  • Kat

Those foxglove! So stunning! But, oy… I hope your swatch did not lie! (And, I am hoping that we will have some porch cocktails in the very near future but it is snowing today! Sigh)

  • Margene

The flowers in your area as so amazing! The blossoms are done and we’re waiting for the annuals to fill in and bring us summer color. Spring is the best season!

Yea to an FO! I want to put plants on the sun porch-just debating about which ones will thrive. I love indoor plants.

What a lovely porch. We have a deck that I try to take advantage of in the Spring and early summer before the mosquitoes and their cousins start to drive me indoors – not to mention heat and humidity. Since our weather turned chilly again, I am happily knitting on the Sunshine Coast sweater. The shaping really makes me smile and I am contemplating knitting one out of some cotton/linen/warm weather type of yarn. I think it is going to fit and that also makes me smile. Oh and I made a pan of brownies in honor of Mother’s Day. They definitely make me smile. I haven’t done too much baking because it is just too darn tempting to eat it all.
