Just Life

Long-time followers already know the backstory. I met Marc before classes even started my freshman year at Georgia Tech*. We dated through college, got engaged Christmas of my senior year (he’d just graduated) and married the following November. We celebrated our 36th anniversary on Tuesday**. He gave me a card and a lovely post on Instagram.

a family vacation to Kiawah Island in the early 1990’s – pretty sure Katie snapped this photo

I cleaned off a counter (and pledged to keep it clean) and re-instituted I Love You Because***

I honestly don’t remember when I put the frame away, but it’s been at least a few years. On Tuesday, I told Marc I thought we were better together when we had an easy way to leave each other little love notes.

Yesterday I came home to this.

Yep. I’m pretty sure we’ll be done with The Crown Season 3 by Monday.

And just think, 36 more years and this could be us! (minus the crown of course 😉 )

Wishing y’all a wonderful weekend!

*My across the hall dorm-mate was dating one of Marc’s fraternity brothers. She thought Marc needed a girlfriend and she introduced us. Sadly, she and I have lost touch, but Marc and I are both grateful for that gift!

**Even new followers can probably do the math and realize yep, I got married just two days after my 21st birthday.

***Kal Barteski was one of the first artists I followed when I “found” the internet back in 2007. I celebrated her marriage, then welcomed the births of her three girls… and mourned the all-too-early passing of her husband, Dan. When I searched for links to add to this post, I found this blurb book, all ready to go.

I love this! We put a dry erase board on the door coming in from the garage where we can leave little notes to each other. Gotta keep the fun alive.

Happy anniversary and here’s to many, many more! My husband and I have a *bit* of catching up to do (we just celebrated 12 years this fall), but I’m inspired by couples who have been together for an impressive number of years and still find ways to express their affection.

Happy Anniversary! 36! Wow! I remember “your frame” from way back when…how sweet of Marc to resurrect. Yes, for sure a keeper! Here’s to 36 more, at least!
    Enjoy your weekend.

Here’s to that 72 year! Leaving each other loves notes is a daily reminder of the bond you have for each other. I love your frame picture and remember it from a few years ago. We burned through a few pads of sticky notes one year because of all the notes we left. Smith framed a few and gave them to me for Christmas. We need to resurrect that tradition, too!

happy anniversary! I’m glad you did the math for me, because I didn’t even realize you got married youngish. I’m married 32 years and it’s been blissful 🙂

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! I love that frame, and I’m glad it’s back in service. 😉

(We’re not far behind, celebrating 35 years in January!)

Happy Anniversary! I love your story and the idea about leaving notes for each other. We’ve been married 42 years this November. Where does the time go?
