I had the immense pleasure of spending yesterday with Sam – a “just us” playday. I’ve had a few opportunities for one-on-one time with him, but this was our first full day (apart from helping out when he’s sick) since he and his family moved into town two years ago. It’s hard for be to believe he’s now about the age that Charlie was when back then, but the pictures don’t lie!
Here we are on our way to Starbucks (for steamed milk and a much-needed second cup of coffee … I left the house at 6:30 to get to Sam’s house at 7:45) … note the golf ball and the bubbles in his lap 🙂
This is his “cheese!” face.
I had a pile of paper and a pack of new markers in my bag, so I almost got to finish my coffee before it was TIME TO GO.
I didn’t settle on a real plan for the day until Saturday … the weather forecast looked bright and sunny, but not too warm. We would head to Ponce City Market for lunch, with a stop at the playground across the street first – thinking scooter, swings and slide. We didn’t find any swings and the scooter got just a few minutes, but the slides…(There were a few times I told him to pose for a photo to share with his mama – he has the whole royal wave thing down!)
… all of this and it’s only 11am! Later … after lunch. and a good nap (for him … I started a new sweater … stay tuned!) we were ready for more.
I’m so glad the weather forecast was true … maybe even a little warmer. Snacks outside!
(oh my goodness … he looks like his brother with the glasses and the hat!)
Our last activity was Play-Do.Unless you count those 15 minutes we sat by the front window watching for his mama (and playing with Instagram).
I got back home just before 6 and had every intention of making this an Unraveled post … but the glass of wine, an episode of Queer Eye (my first of the new season) and a very early bedtime made Three on Thursday a better plan!
So – three things I’m going to remember about my day with Sam:
- His ready Cheese! and Royal Wave whenever I suggested we take a photo to share with his mama.
- Chasing bubbles. and sometimes catching them.
- Even when he reminds me of Charlie, he’s most definitely Sam.
I am so grateful to have two little boys close by … and I’m looking forward to more one-on-one (still trying to convince Marc to get some two-on-two) time as the weather gets better. These boys love “outside” and they’re making me a fan, too.
Joining in with Carole and friends … Happy Thursday!
