Hello and Happy Thursday! As I mentioned in my last post, I was fortunate to spend a good bit of yesterday with my friends-who-are-family visiting the High Museum to see Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrors exhibit. I wasn’t at all sure what to expect, but even in my wildest dreams, this exhibit would’ve exceeded my expectations.
I also said I’d be sharing “three things” today (because Thursday), so here goes:
Thing One – It was about a lot more than mirrors. There were signs all over the entryway warning visitors not to touch, sit or lie down in the exhibit. The first thing I saw when we got off the elevator were these soft cotton sculptures. …and of course all I could think of was touching, sitting and lying down!
Also on display in that first room were pieces from Kusama’s ongoing My Eternal Soul series.
These pieces are going to be inspiring my colored pencil drawings for … months to come.
Thing Two – The Mirror Rooms are Amazing
even the last room which wasn’t mirrored, but was interactive. When the exhibit opened back in November, this room was completely white. Every visitor gets a page of stickers to help “obliterate” it.
Thing Three – The company was wonderfulas was the very nice stranger who offered to take our photo!
In closing, if you have the opportunity to see the exhibit, do it!
Also, head on over to Carole’s to see what Three Things everyone else is talking about today.
