Just Life

Sometimes Mondays.

…make you question the date*!

Here’s what I saw when Holly and I walked in the afternoon.

And here’s a glimpse from the same day last year.

Weather is a crazy thing for sure, but last year it was February before we saw the Lenten Rose bloom.

I hope your week is off to a sure start … for Monday, January 7!

*full disclosure, this post should probably be titled Sometimes Sundays because the photos I’m sharing are from January 6 … which in 2019, was yesterday.

Early January seems extraordinarily early for hellebores to be blooming! I’m not sure what that means in terms of weather or climate, but it’s surely nicer than the scene from last year. We seem to be starting a period of cold, sleety, snowy weather, so enjoy the blossoms, and thanks for sharing!

It’s been unseasonably warm and wet (no snow) here. I’m afraid to go walk my garden, because it’s far too early for anything to be “up” yet, but it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest. . .

Like Vera, my car was frozen over when I went to knit group tonight. I hadn’t even realized it had sleeted. Tomorrow it is supposed to hit 50°.

    CRAZY weather!

True winter has been slow to arrive here in southeastern Massachusetts but it seems like it’s starting in earnest now. Not my favorite season but I wouldn’t mind a snow day at some point.

I think nature is very confused by climate change. I saw buds on some of our bushes back in December and have passed some snowdrops on my way to work that came up in November!

Here too! Last Christmas we could barely get out of our driveway because of the snow. This year we are back to rain and wind. Hard to know how to plan your wardrobe 😉

Oh wow. It seems super early for blooming flowers, even in The South!! We’ve had a few days with temps in the 40s and rain — so much rain! (Sort of glad it isn’t snow, but we really need snow!!)

  • Debbie

It has been unusually mild here for January, but I think that will end with today. We have more normal temps and some snow in the forecast…we’ve been spoiled!

  • Kat

Wow. I am not sure what is normal anywhere anymore. I trimmed off all my rosemary and sage this fall to dry the leaves – and it is all growing back… in Pittsburgh…in January!

Good thing Global Warming is not real, lol!

Ah we’ve got the winter mix today and cold temps all week but no snow. We’d like it…if it’s going to be winter let’s go outside and play! 🙂

  • Margene

Ice and growing plants!? We’ve been in a deep freeze but the temps are finally going up to the low 40s. The sky is blue! Life is so much easier when the world isn’t frozen solid.

it’s been ultra dreary here but then the sun will poke out and I’ll get all excited and then the clouds roll back in. I love winter and snow but the cloudiness is kind of a bummer!

Thus far my crazy azalea hasn’t bloomed…yet! Who knows what causes these anomalies? I just enjoy seeing them!
    Cheers~
