Just Life

Thanksgiving Weekending.

Hello, friends – it’s nice to be back! (which is always the best feeling when we return from a short break, right? 🙂 ) Our weekend was a perfect mix of good food, little boys, outside, inside, friends & family … and alone time.

Thursday morning dawned bright and chilly. #blueskyblooms for my morning walk.

Loved this text from Katie.

We spent the afternoon with the little boys and their parents. It was fun … and just a little crazy. The boys FaceTimed with Rob’s brother … Poppa and Charlie built a dinosaur … Sam supervised his dad carving the turkey … Charlie showing off his pilgrim hat/place card … Charlie and Poppa decorated the playroom tree … Charlie made a silly face over dessert.

Katie set a beautiful table.

…and we tried for a family photo.

Needless to say, by the time we got home … we were ready for bed!

Friday morning Marc played golf. I met up with Lydia and Kathy for beer, coffee and a little knitting.(that’s the beginning of a pair of socks for me.)

The rest of the weekend was quiet. We finished watching the latest season of Great British Baking Show (our least favorite … the challenges were mostly unapproachable, the show-stoppers were unappealing, contestants cried – not in a good way, and I didn’t look up a single dish to see how to make it).

Good thing I’d saved the latest season of Call the Midwife. no spoilers, but whoa. I needed all the tissues. (that’s progress on the Coatigan.)

I also started The Widows of Malabar Hill. Not only has this book made its way downstairs, it’s become a breakfast, lunch and dinner companion.(good thing leftovers make for easy reading.)

and now it’s Monday and I’m loving that there’s almost a full week of November left. We might even get our house decorated for the holidays before December arrives!

Hope your week is off to an optimistic start, too!

Looks like a great weekend all around Mary! It was hard to face the fact that Monday was indeed going to arrive. Good news…we’ve got a 4 day week as we’re heading for our Christmas shopping weekend on Friday. I’ve got a pair of socks going as well…and car time ahead!

Sounds like a great day/week. Highly recommend The Other Einstein by Marie Benedict. Apparently Albert needed to share the credit for being ‘the brains” in the family.

  • Kat

My heart just burst with that picture… awww! My sob-moment came when Genevieve gave thanks for Nana and Uncle Sam – which she announced at my ex’s dinner table! Okay, maybe I laughed a bit too!

Glad you had such a great weekend!

What a fun time with your family, Mary! I love the photo of the boys waiting for you! My kids used to do that . . . waiting for my parents to arrive. (Heart melts. . . ) I LOVE having a whole week of November left. It feels SPACIOUS somehow. . .

What a lovely full of fun and relaxation holiday weekend, Mary! Thanksgiving felt early this year, but it’s nice to have a whole week stretching out before December – kind of makes me feel less rushed.

What a fun way to start a Thanksgiving weekend…little boys are the best (almost ;-)). As with you, we had little girls. I’m looking forward to Dolly’s guys as they grow up…
Glad your weekend was relaxing and filled with all the good things in life. Knit and read on!

looks like you had a great time, I do not have any leftovers since my dad cooked. I miss that when I cook at home. We were on the road and so coming home was wonderful. I decorated then sat and looked at my labors.

I loved the last season of CTMW- could you tell that Trixie was pregnant? I don’t think they did a good job of hiding it. So glad we were able to have casual family meet ups during the holiday week. Charlie and Sam waiting for y’all- so Cat in the Hat-ish!
