Is it just me, or did this week fly by? Seems like I was just telling y’all about our birthday weekend … and now another weekend is upon us. But first…
Thinking about joining NaKniSweMo. yes. really. (for my non-knitting readers, this is the knitting corollary to NaNoWriMo and participants knit a 50,000 stitch sweater in the month of November.) I decided a few weeks back that I would not be repeating NaBloPoMo (sharing a blog post every day in November), but as I’m trying to jump-start the sweater knitting season, I think the challenge and the KAL might be fun. Of course first I really need to finish Calyx … and figure out what to knit. Hence “thinking about” vs “committing to” 🙂
Grateful for our treadmill and Pilates on my iPad. Today has been chilly and wet (glad I took those walk in the park photos yesterday!), but I still got my workout in.
Inspired by Brené Brown (again). I finished Braving the Wilderness this morning. The last chapter (pictured above) was inspiring, hopeful and encouraging. That “wild heart” bit got me when I first read about it in Chapter Two … I loved that she saved explaining it for last.
The mark of a wild heart is living out the paradox of love in our lives. It’s the ability to be tough and tender, excited and scared, brave and afraid — all in the same moment. (page 155)
She goes on to talk about joy. and how experiencing joy in the midst of pain and sadness is not only OK, it’s necessary
We’re … working to make sure that everyone gets to experience what brings meaning to life: love, belonging, and joy. These are essential, irreducible needs for all of us. And we can’t give people what we don’t have. We can’t fight for what’s not in our hearts. … the key to joy is practicing gratitude. (page 156)
What a wonderful and timely message!
Fun … who knew crocheting a simple ripple pattern in a big ol’ ball of Red Heart variegated yarn could be Fun?! I’m now about 25% through the big ball and the piece measures a little over 10″. The striping hasn’t gotten boring, but I have memorized the pattern. Potato chip crafting at its best!
Have a wonderful weekend!
