Three on Thursday | Hello July.

Summer is in full swing here. Heat, humidity, and almost daily thunderstorms, the smells of freshly mown grass, sliced tomatoes and peaches, the sounds of laughter coming from the pool next door, the constant whirr of ceiling fans, and a generally slower pace. Hello July!

When I started thinking about this month, I was tempted to just go with that slower pace and, you know, just go with it. but no, that’s really who I am. So this morning, it’s Thursday, I set three goals for the month:

  1. Stay focused. There’s a bit of “getting my focus back” here, too. I had a wonderful time in New York last month and I let that vacation state of mind continue (yes, for two more weeks!) I let my morning study routine go. I stopped doing pilates and yoga. I didn’t eat/drink/sleep/do laundry like an adult. and it was fun, but I’m ready to get myself back.
  2. Keep making. Sew two tops and two dresses and finish the two shawls on the needles.
  3. Actively participate in Michelle GD’s Intention for 7. She’s offering this free workshop for the week beginning July 16. The timing seems perfect! Signup here.

I’m looking forward to making these things happen ..and seeing where they take me.

    Ooo! Fun! I signed up for Intention for 7, too! I need to spend some time refocusing as well…I have been trying a few different things in the morning and nothing quite seems to be right. Here is to a July of finding focus!

    It’s always good to kick back once in a while — and get out of that regular routine. But. The inner put toward BALANCE is a strong one! Yin and Yang. Here’s to a wonderful July — full of just the right mix of things. XO

    You’ve got me interested in the Michelle GD Intention. I’ve got a wedding and a concert in that period but I think I can still focus on some intentional better behavior! 🙂 I can’t wait to see your sewing projects!

    I feel like my vacation state of mind has continued over the two+ months I’ve been back. And I could certainly use some focus! Looks like you have set some good goals for helping you get your focus back.

    I sketch out what I want my week to look like – but now that I’m not babysitting through the summer I’m adding all the crafts and past times to my list!

    Vacation mode is nice for a while, but I don’t personally like to end up wasting too much time, which I inevitably do if I don’t have some sort of plan, even if it’s a loosely-organized one. I’ll be in the middle of house stuff during the week of the 16th, but I’m going to give Intention for 7 a try. I may need focused intention more than ever during that week, and it’s nice to know I’ll be in good company! 🙂

    I’m in denial about how much time my painting project is actually going to take. Maybe I should tell myself it’ll be like stockinette in the round since no furniture moving will be involved!

    I love this view of your desk and hope to create a space like that for myself sometime soon. I’m curious about the Intention for 7, so I went to the website and signed up for the newsletter. I will be having some time away with my husband during that time and I don’t know how much time I would need to devote to this practice. Have you done something like this with Michelle before? Any insights you may be able to share? I’m finding that I need some dedicated space like that, but find I’m not very forgiving of myself if I set out to do it and don’t make it through. Thank you!
