Sometimes Mondays.
…provide the perfect opportunity to wear a new outfit!
Yes! I finished the Esme Top to accompany the Owyn Shorts (both patterns from Lotta Jansdotter’s Everyday Style). The fabric is from last month’s visit to Purl SohoΒ (1-1/2 yards of Watercolor Linen in Lilac Bark – $31.20). I think Marc smiled when I told him I’d used 30 dollars of fabric to make this. I couldn’t tell for sure though since my back was turned.
My Monday afternoon knitting group includes a few seamstresses. It was especially nice to debut this first handmade outfit with ladies who “get it”. The pattern really does fit me well (I made the XS with no modifications), especially the top – y’all the darts are perfect! I’m thinking I might add an inch or two the shorts the next time – if only to have a second pair that doesn’t look exactly like the first.
Because my next project is another matching set (different top, same shorts) in another linen (cream, not grey/pink … but still, I’m pretty sure Marc couldn’t notice the difference). I promised the group another debut next week!
Vera and I have been chatting offline about all the sewing inspiration happening in this little corner of the internet (she called us out on Friday :-). I’m happy to be part of itΒ (no FOMO here)!
Hope your week is off to an encouraging start!

Congrats! Lookin’ good and you are on a roll! Look forward to # 2! And if your weather’s anything like ours – 95+ degrees with no end in sight – your two new outfits will probably be working overtime!
Wear both in great health!
Cheers~

Oh my! I love it! So cute… and I love the cap sleeves! (that really don’t feel like sewing sleeves at all!) The color is perfect and I bet these will be in heavy rotation! π

I have that book! I am a novice sewist (is that the right word?), but my goals include making the Esme top and hte Owyn pants. Yours look great! Did you use a serger for the linen?
Sara

Wonderful and so perfect for the weather! I’ve been looking for linen dresses, but I haven’t yet found anything flattering and affordable. I may be forced to sew! I have a touch of FOMO, but I’ve also got AAS (anxiety about sewing). Looking forward to next week’s debut!

I am suffering from FOMO, but also think it would be fun to do a little sewing (if only to be cooler). The linen looks lovely and the pattern is so perfect for you!

LOVE this outfit Mary! You did a super job and did it so fast. I can’t wait to see the next version. Hoping I can dig through my fabric stash some this weekend and figure out exactly WHAT to make!!
